Description Brattleboro Memorial Hospital / Southern Vermont Health Services Corporation Job Description Job Title: Pharmacy Technician II Job Code: 169 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department Name: Pharmacy Location: Brattleboro, Vermont JOB SUMMARY: Assists pharmacists in the procurement, preparation, dispensing and monitoring of prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals according to professional and regulatory standards and practices. DEPT. SCOPE OF SERVICE: The pharmacy is responsible for the purchasing, storage, preparation, distribution and control of all drugs used in the hospital. In addition, pharmacists, assisted by pharmacy technicians, are responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to patients by assuring safe and effective drug therapy. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school graduate or equivalent; competent math skills; typing, filing, manual dexterity. Experience: 3-4 years Healthcare Pharmacy Tech experience preferred. Working knowledge of drug names and computer skills required. Prior experience with Pyxis (or a similar automatic dispensing cabinet and MAK (computerized medication administration) desired. Licensure/Certification: Registered by the State of Vermont and PTCB Certification Mental Efforts: Requires manual dexterity. Requires proficiency in use of office equipment, computer, telephone, copier, telefax. Requires use of Laminar flow hood, biological safety cabinet and barrio isolator. Requires corrected vision to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions. Requires some exposure to hazardous products. Environment & Working Conditions: Possible risk for exposure to cytotoxic drugs.
