Your Opportunity:
Are you tired of working evenings and weekends? The Central Alberta Cancer Center is a busy and fast paced Regional Cancer Center located in Red Deer, Alberta that is open Monday through Friday. Pharmacy Technicians practice to their full scope and perform all aspects of drug distribution services to provide safe and quality patient care. Pharmacy Technician dispensing related responsibilities include triage, preparation, repackaging and final product checking of sterile and non-sterile products, individual patient prescriptions, and ward stock. Other duties include interacting with patients at the front desk, inventory management, guiding and assisting with the training and orientation of staff and students, collecting and organizing information to support the provision of direct patient care, participating in special projects and programs as assigned, and maintaining department records and statistics as required. It is important to build and maintain successful interactive relationships with all members of the healthcare team, including communicating with nursing staff to clarify orders and requests, triaging drug information questions, and problem- solving distribution issues. Technicians must demonstrate a high standard of performance through the completion of internal validation programs that assess proficiency in identified tasks such as aseptic techniques and final product checking. The pharmacy supports remote drug delivery to Drayton Valley and Drumheller and is live on the provincial Connect Care electronic system. Technicians at this center are required to perform sterile chemotherapy compounding on a frequent and regular basis. Note: Successful applicant cannot be guaranteed the same day off every week and must be available to work Monday through Friday and/or all hours that the department requires staff.
