Description
Department Overview This position provides technical support to pharmacists for ambulatory refill authorization requests. Functions as a liaison and a point of contact for various pharmacy operations and interdisciplinary team members. Facilitates and prioritizes time sensitive duties which may include but are not limited to pharmacy program support and operational procedures. Person working this shift is responsible for ensuring accountability and accuracy of standard operations procedures in these areas. Function/Duties of Position Process refill authorization requests for assigned ambulatory clinics. Review for accuracy and apply appropriate authorization protocols. Identify valid requests and triage appropriately to pharmacist or provider for review. Document the receipt, status and outcome of authorization requests in the electronic medical record. Provide applicable documentation for pharmacist or provider to complete review Perform designated workflows and other duties as assigned Perform daily activities specifically related to triage procedures or program specific procedures Provide support for refill authorization requests that may include patient, physician or pharmacy outreach Other Duties as Assigned Required Qualifications High School Diploma, Active State of Oregon Pharmacy Technician License, including the completion and maintenance of job-specific competencies and certifications. Must possess computer keyboarding skills. Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies): Ability to read and understand medical-related terms. Ability to perform basic pharmaceutical mathematics calculations. Skill at manipulating small objects, e.g., needles, syringes, ampules. Ability to use mechanical system for transfer of fluids. Knowledge of and skill at application of aseptic technique. Ability to establish priorities in workflow. Good interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work under supervision of diverse Pharmacists. Preferred Qualifications Formal pharmacy technician training program Certification from the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Healthcareer Association 1 year of Pharmacy work experience, or equivalent additional education Medical office setting experience or health system experience Inpatient and outpatient hospital pharmacy experience. Medical and scientific nomenclature. Microsoft application knowledge (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook) Additional Details Office setting with the majority of work time seated at a desk or standing at a standing work station. Flexibility in scheduling of shift times required. Accountability for accuracy associated with performance of the duties to this position. Why apply to OHSU?
