Description Animal Dermatology Clinic is seeking a veterinary Pharmacy Technician works cooperatively with the front office, treatment staff, and veterinarians to provide safe, accurate and timely delivery of medications to patients. Under the supervision of the Practice Manager +/- the Technician Leads, the veterinary Pharmacy Technician processes new orders, updates patient information, notifies clients about order status, and maintains inventories. Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job: Has the ability to triage medication requests and fill new medication orders accurately and efficiently Understands the laws governing the maintenance of appropriate drug control for all drugs, including Schedules II-V. Able to effectively use computer and automation resources to accurately provide medications in a timely manner, ensure accurate billing, and update patient records Order and restock inventory to maximize inventory turnover, prevent out-of-stocks, and minimize expired drugs. Ensures correct storage conditions for medications, checks for expired drug products and other defects, and removes them from inventory. Run all in-house labs, track and monitor outside labs, and ensure all results are timely posted to patient records Maintain and troubleshoot in-house analyzers Maintain cleanliness/organization of pharmacy Requirements Qualifications/Work Experience: 1+ year of experience as a pharmacy technician in a veterinary setting or successful completion of a recognized pharmacy-technician training program. Has knowledge of veterinary and pharmacy terminology, weights and measures, and pharmacy calculations. Ability to effectively communicate verbally with coworkers and clients. Ability to stand for extended periods of time, type at least 45 words per minute, lift up to 35 pounds, bend, squat, stoop and reach above and below shoulder level. Education/Licensure/Certification: Current licensure as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of California, or a valid Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP), or ability to obtain applicable license or permit.
