Description Job Summary Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists with prescription processing, customer service, and the overall maintenance of the pharmacy department. They help promote an exceptional customer experience through efficient and professional interactions with both customers and employees. Key Responsibilities Process prescription refills, including communication with healthcare providers for authorization and follow-up. Receive written prescriptions, collect necessary information, input data into the system, and prepare prescriptions by accurately counting, pouring, and labeling medications. Ring up customer purchases on the cash register and ensure required signatures are obtained. Organize and maintain hard copy prescriptions and HIPAA-related documentation. Maintain pharmacy inventory, including placing orders, stocking shelves, and checking for expired medications. Dispose of outdated medications according to proper protocols. Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain cleanliness and sanitation within the pharmacy. Assist with medication deliveries to patients and care facilities as needed. Verify and process third-party billing, ensuring accurate payments and remittances. Collaborate with the bookkeeping team to maintain charge account records and manage monthly statements for pharmacy customers. Assist in managing the Over-the-Counter (OTC) stock and merchandise in collaboration with the GM/HBC department. Other duties as assigned to support the pharmacy’s operations. Requirements Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, transportation, and proof of vehicle insurance. High school diploma or GED required. Must be registered as a pharmacy technician with the state’s Board of Pharmacy. Must hold national pharmacy technician certification or be in the process of obtaining certification, in compliance with state requirements. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must have strong communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to speak, read, and write in English. Must demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills to provide an exceptional customer experience. Must possess basic math skills. Must have professionalism, tact, and outstanding customer service abilities. Working Conditions, Physical Demands and Availability Fast-paced, indoor environment Possible exposure to weather conditions while making deliveries. 35-40 hours per week on average. Flexible schedule that may include daytime, evening, and weekend hours.
