Job Summary * Exempt: No * Performs non-discretionary, technical duties, under the direct supervision of a licensed, attending pharmacist; involving compounding and dispensing medications as prescribed by physicians or other qualified prescribers, in accordance with state and federal laws. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will occasionally lift boxes and/or supplies weighing up to 25 pounds. The employee must demonstrate lifting a 25-pound box from the floor. * POTENTIAL EXPOSURE TO BLOOD & BODY FLUIDS: Category 2 for potential exposure to blood/body fluids. (Does not usually require the performance of procedures or other tasks in the work routine that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, but Category 2 tasks may require the unexpected performance of these procedures.) Job Roles Pharmacy Technician (AHCL) * Cleans laminar flow hood and counter tops per hospital policy. * Compounds and admixes intravenous solutions as specified by the pharmacist in charge. * Counts and pours pharmaceuticals in the preparation of prescriptions. Documents quality assurance activities including, but not limited to, refrigerator temperatures, late charges and other quality assurance activities. * Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, license, certifications and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies. * Places drug products into specified container for floor stock, including but not limited to, stationary and mobile drug carts, emergency drug supplies and clinics. Prepares and affixes labels in a safe and accurate manner. * Receives ordered items and places into stock. * Refers all discretionary tasks to the pharmacist. * Removes drugs from stock for prescription preparation. * Reviews inventory levels to ensure that outdated drugs, or drugs that have lost their potency, are removed. * Ships outdated or returns to appropriate vendors/reverse distributors. * Willingly performs other duties and innovations as assigned.
