Job Summary The Certified Pharmacy Technician supports the efficient operation of the pharmacy department by preparing and dispensing medications, managing inventory, and providing guidance to less experienced technicians. This role functions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and may include responsibilities for controlled substances, billing, and precepting new staff. Essential Functions Refills and maintains automated dispensing systems. Prepares and fills medication orders, including controlled substances, under pharmacist supervision. Supports medication billing, charges, and inventory records. Prepares prepackaged and bulk medications with correct labeling. Oversees restocking and maintenance of pharmaceuticals in compliance with standards. Assists in training and competency assessments of new or junior technicians. Participates in quality assurance and process improvement activities. Responds to inventory and regulatory documentation requirements. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication safety, and regulatory compliance. Effective communication and precepting skills. Competency in pharmacy technology and software systems. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision. Proficiency in handling hazardous medications and adherence to safety protocols. Education High School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role. (required) Associate’s Degree in related healthcare field (preferred) Licenses/Certifications LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech Registration or licensure as a Pharmacy Technician with the applicable State Board of Pharmacy required, where mandated by state law. Upon Hire (required) PHAR-C - Certified Pharmacy Tech National pharmacy technician certification from an accredited certifying body (PTCB or NHA) Upon Hire (required) Experience 3-5 years experience as a pharmacy technician (preferred)
