Description
At Hamilton Health Sciences, the Pharmacy department plays an instrumental role in ensuring the safe distribution and service of medications to patients which facilitates successful patient treatment outcomes in compliance with legal, regulatory and accreditation standards. The management and distribution of our medications is critical in ensuring we are able to consistently deliver high-quality, safe patient care. As we continue to grow our pharmacy operations, we are seeking Registered Pharmacy Technicians to join our team. Our pharmacy technicians are important members of the interdisciplinary team, performing a wide variety of responsibilities including completion of best possible medication histories, hazardous and nonhazardous sterile and non-sterile compounding; automations; and drug distribution. Our pharmacy technicians have unique opportunities to grow their skills through teaching and mentoring students, specializing in areas such as oncology, neonatal/pediatrics, and participating in, committees, projects and working groups. Completion of a college level Pharmacy Technician Program required (accredited college level Pharmacy Technician Program preferred) Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, detail oriented, communication, teamwork, problem-solving and organizational skills Strong computer skills Proven ability to follow specific instructions with a high degree of accuracy Demonstrated initiative and judgment appropriate for the role. Self-directed in seeking out pharmacy issues within the healthcare team Demonstrated commitment to professional development Proven ability to perform the physical requirements of the position which may include standing for extended periods of time, moderate lifting and pushing carts
Responsibilities
Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for the safe distribution and service of medications, including completing best possible medication histories and performing sterile and non-sterile compounding. They also participate in teaching, mentoring students, and contributing to committees and projects.
