Employees must possess a strong commitment to the mission, policies, goals and philosophy of Harbor Community Health Centers.   JOB SUMMARY The Pharmacy Technician plays a key role in supporting the timely, safe, and coordinated delivery of prescribed medications within the clinic. Working under the direct supervision of the Clinical Pharmacist, this position is responsible for facilitating medication refill requests, managing prior authorizations, communicating with pharmacies and providers, and maintaining accurate medication inventory and compliance across the clinical department. The Pharmacy Technician promotes strong collaboration between pharmacy, providers, and care teams to ensure medications are managed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with program standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required: * Receive and process patient requests for medication refills via phone, voicemail, and in-person inquiries. * Verify medication history and eligibility prior to routing requests for provider approval. * Track and follow up on pending refill requests to ensure timely completion. * Serve as the main point of contact for pharmacy communications regarding coverage issues, alternative medications, or prior authorization needs. * Coordinate with providers and insurance plans to resolve medication barriers. * Initiate and monitor prior authorization requests, ensuring accuracy and timely follow-through. * Assist in maintaining accurate medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storage in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements. * Track stock levels, expiration dates, and temperature logs to ensure compliance. * Support medication handling for clinic programs under pharmacist oversight. * Contact patients regarding missed doses, incomplete treatments, or refill delays to maintain continuity of care. * Support medication adherence documentation and communication within the electronic health record (EHR). * Collaborate with the pharmacist and care team to meet clinical and quality goals. * Strong understanding of pharmacy workflows and clinical coordination to ensure efficient operations. * High attention to detail, reliability, and professionalism in all aspects of care. * Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to support patient outcomes. * Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS  Required education, experience and/or training: * Certified Medical Assistant or licensed Pharmacy Technician in the State of California required. * Minimum 3-4 years of experience in pharmacy operations, medication coordination, or clinical support required. * Familiarity with insurance processes, prior authorizations, and EHR systems. * Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills. * Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
