Description Nature of Pharmacy Tech Position: Under the supervision of the Pharmacist in Charge, the Pharmacy Technician will assist in all areas of pharmacy operations, including prescription preparation, sales transactions, customer service, and inventory maintenance. Pharmacist Technician Duties Include but Are Not Limited To: Assist in stages of prescription filling process, including data entry production and sales. Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering of medication and supplies Accurately and efficiently enter client and prescription information and submits insurance claims Properly packages and labels prescriptions Completes sales of prescriptions maintaining confidentiality and HIPPA compliance Assist in shipment or delivery of orders Communicate effectively with clients, prescribers, nurses and other providers Maintain client rights and confidentiality at all times Provide high quality customer service and answer pharmacy related inquiries in person and on the phone Other duties as assigned Requirements Pharmacy Tech Requirements: High School Diploma 1-3 years of pharmacy tech experience preferably in a retail setting Must be certified with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board and maintain a current certificate Maintain active Pharmacy Technician Certification and complete all required continuing education Must be proficient in mathematics, basic and advanced pharmacy calculations and display essential critical thinking skills. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Computer experience sufficient to perform data entry functions. Knowledge: Thorough knowledge and application of the state and federal laws that govern the use of drugs/controlled substances. Excellent customer service skills including a positive attitude, friendly demeanor, calm voice, and patience. Able to work independently and professionally in a fast paced environment. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with peers, leadership and staff. Strong organizational skills Must be detail-oriented and efficient Respects the confidentiality of information obtained through the position Physical Requirements: Requires some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% standing, 10% walking, and 10% sitting. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
