Reports To: Director of Pharmacy Status: 40-60 hours per two week pay period NEW GRADS WELCOME TO APPLY STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Pharmacy or HRMC Pharmacist and according to standard pharmacy practice, performs a variety of support functions including assisting pharmacist in storage, preparation, dispensing, charging, and distribution of sterile and non-sterile medications; maintaining records and inventory; assuring medications are available in a timely manner for patient administration. Requirements Works with the pharmacists to maintain appropriate levels of medication inventory utilizing cost effective practices for purchasing products. Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing products and supplies in appropriate areas and limit monetary loss through outdating products. Accurately repackages bulk products into unit-dose packaging with final pharmacist check prior to restocking bins.? Promptly completes Omnicell?pick lists and timely deliveries after pharmacist final check. Completes Omnicell replenishes in a timely manner assuring products are stored in correct bins, rotated, correct quantity, and correct expiration. Pulls any outdated or recalled items as returns. Restocks medication storage cabinets in patient care areas accurately and notifies pharmacist of concerns. Assures that any outdated or unusable products are not placed back into active storage but removed to be processed through reverse wholesaler returns or properly discarded into appropriate waste containers. Completes documentation of monthly outdated pulls. Prepares Compounded Sterile Products (CSPs) accurately with appropriate technique. Follows infection control procedures and universal precautions as applicable to established policies and procedures. Refers all concerns and questions concerning medications, patients, staff, and storage to supervising pharmacist or Director of Pharmacy. WORKING CONDITIONS: A. Work is under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist and involves constant attention to specific detail. B. Work involves much one on one interaction with departmental and hospital staff, Physicians and public. C. Intermittently light (exerting/lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or a negligible amount constantly) to moderately heavy (exerting/lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly) with some lifting of supplies and pushing of the exchange cart, etc. in a climate controlled environment. D. Exposure to toxic substances is safe if proper precautions are observed.
