Job Title: Pharmacy Technician I, II, III or Senior Cost Center: 351011245 BDHos-Pharmacy-Inpatient Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Employee Type: Regular Work Shift: 8-hour day shifts, variable days (United States of America) Job Description: ***May be eligible for a sign-on bonus*** The Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist, to assist them in their day-to-day tasks to prepare and dispense pharmaceutical drugs in accordance with standards, State and Federal laws, and department policies and procedures. Responsibilities of the Pharmacy Technician will vary depending on the location of pharmacy practice. Pharmacy hours are: Monday-Friday 7:00 am - 5:00 pm Sat-Sun 8:00 am - 12:00 pm Holidays 8:00 am - 12:00 pm Every third weekend, 1-2 holidays per year EDUCATION For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation. Minimum Required: None Preferred/Optional: Completion of Pharmacy Technician Training Program. EXPERIENCE Pharmacy Technician I: Minimum Required: None. Preferred/Optional: Six months of experience in pharmacy, healthcare, or customer service. Pharmacy Technician II: Minimum Required: One year experience in pharmacy (or equivalent i.e. Medical Assistant, CNA, Laboratory Technician) OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program Pharmacy Technician III: Minimum Required: Three years experience in pharmacy (or equivalent i.e. Medical Assistant, CNA, Laboratory Technician) OR Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program AND two year’s experience in pharmacy (or equivalent i.e. Medical Assistant, CNA, Laboratory Technician) Pharmacy Technician Senior: Minimum Required: Five years experience in pharmacy (or equivalent i.e. Medical Assistant, CNA, Laboratory Technician) OR Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program AND four years experience in pharmacy (or equivalent i.e. Medical Assistant, CNA, Laboratory Technician) CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position. Pharmacy Technician I: Minimum Required: Pharmacy Technician registration or licensure OR an application for pharmacy technician registration or licensure will be accepted if it is in pending status by the first date of employment. Registration/licensure must be obtained within 6 months and must remain in good standing and current. Preferred/Optional: Certification as a Pharmacy Technician via PTCB or equivalent. Pharmacy Technician II: Minimum Required: Pharmacy Technician registration or licensure OR an application for pharmacy technician registration or licensure will be accepted if it is in pending status by the first date of employment. Registration/licensure must be obtained within 6 months and must remain in good standing and current. Preferred/Optional: advanced pharmacy technician certification (CPhT-Adv or CSPT). Pharmacy Technician III & Senior: Minimum Required: Pharmacy Technician registration/licensure or application in pending status by the first date of employment. Registration/licensure must be obtained within six months and must remain in good standing and current. And one of the following: Pharmacy Technician Certification via PTCB or NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification awarded by the American Association or Medical Assistants (AAMA) Registered Medical Assistant registration from the American Medical Technologist (AMT) Registered Medical Assistant registry from the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Nurse Compact License Preferred/Optional: Advanced pharmacy technician certification (CPhT-Adv or CSPT).
