Overview: Schedule: - Monday to Friday - Between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM - Hybrid (after 90 days) - One day in office per week required Job Description Summary: The Pharmacy Technician II – Specialty Pharmacy position exists to provide technical expertise in the specialty pharmacy. The position supports the pharmacy by making patient calls, working on prior authorizations, preparing medications for delivery, and completing technician-related duties. This role is primarily based in a call center role and will also staff in the Outpatient Pharmacy on a routine basis. Job Description: Essential Functions: Accepts prescription, establishes billing/patient charges, documents patient’s allergies correctly, interprets and enters information regarding the outpatient prescription into the computer system Serves as call center agent: answers the telephone and assists caller or forwards to appropriate individual (pharmacist, pharmacy administration, etc.). Places outbound calls to patients to schedule prescription deliveries. Prepares shipments appropriately to ensure drug stability during transit. Acts as a prior authorization subject matter expert: monitor, follow-up with and record all insurance prior authorizations and re-authorizations required by payers to help ensure compliance and continuity of treatment. Helps support the appeal process to overturn insurance denials and/or benefit exclusions when needed. Works on patient’s behalf to identify and assess reimbursement coverage options for those with insurance and coordinate and/or investigate financial options for those without insurance. Manages pharmacy stock, including ordering and organizing and notifies pharmacist or inventory coordinators of any problems or concerns Education Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent Licensure Requirement: Board of Pharmacy technician license Certifications: Completion of a pharmacy technician program, two years of experience as a pharmacy technician (preferably in a setting appropriate for the position, e.g. outpatient, hospital, etc.), experienced NCH Outpatient Pharmacy Technician in good standing, or a bachelor’s degree Certification as a pharmacy technician or documented passing score on certification exam prior to start date Skills: Demonstrated skills in algebra by passing score on math competency administered on site Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician preferred.
