Mission Cancer & Blood, part of UI Health Care is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to serve as a member of the Pharmacy management team. Under general supervision of the Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Managers, the Technician Supervisor coordinates, supervises and is responsible for pharmacy technician personnel and technical services of the UI Health Care Mission Cancer and Blood infusion pharmacies. The Technician Supervisor is aware of all processes and procedures, ensures accountability of technician services, and can perform the technical activities in all Ambulatory Care Pharmacies as necessary. This position’s primary work location is at 1221 Pleasant St Suite 540, Des Moines, IA but will also require routine travel to offsite facilities in the Des Moines area (Urbandale, Waukee, Ankeny, etc.).

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Successful completion of the pharmacy technician certification exam within twelve months of the start of employment.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory, pharmacy or technical work setting.
  • Job related experience with commitment to service excellence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, creating positive working relationships with team members including healthcare providers, vendors and pharmacy staff.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Job related experience in a hospital setting
  • A Master of Science in healthcare/management related advanced degree such as an MHA, MPH or MBA.
  • Experience with automation/technology, human resources management, project management and Epic electronic health record.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task, keeping multiple initiatives moving forward simultaneously.
  • Experience with non-sterile and/or sterile compounding.
