Overview Pharmacy Technician Trainee Waterloo Allen Retail Pharmacy Full Time; 40 Hours per week; 8:30a-5:30p Mon-Fri; 9a-1p Sat and Sun; rotating shifts Functions as a Pharmacy Technician as defined by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners. Assists pharmacists in entering prescription orders, preparing and distributing drug products and maintaining accurate medication records. Responsibilities Play an important role in supporting safe, high-quality patient care as part of a collaborative pharmacy team Prepare and distribute medications that directly support patient treatment and recovery Assist with specialized medication preparation, including sterile and non-sterile compounding, with training and support provided Help maintain pharmacy operations by managing medication inventory, stocking supplies, and ensuring medications are ready when patients need them Utilize pharmacy systems to support medication processing, documentation, and billing accuracy Work closely with pharmacists, nurses, and healthcare teams to support seamless patient care Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work environment that supports safety and efficiency Follow safety and infection prevention practices that protect patients, visitors, and team members Support a positive, team-first culture that values communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement Maintain required pharmacy technician training and certification while building valuable healthcare experience Qualifications Required: Must be registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee prior to first day of work. Must maintain a current Pharmacy Technician Trainee registration and be in good standing with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy. Must obtain registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician prior to the expiration of the technician trainee registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy. Preferred: Experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy desirable Experience in a health care facility desirable
