Responsibilities:
A Pharmacy Technician Trainer oversees and instructs pharmacy technicians, ensuring the efficient and accurate dispensing of medications within a closed-door pharmacy setting (e.g., long-term care, mail-order, or specialty pharmacy). They are responsible for training new and existing technicians, maintaining inventory, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy policies and regulations. They also may assist with workflow management, quality control, and resolving issues related to prescriptions and patient care.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification - A valid Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) is required, and some employers may prefer or require additional certifications.
  • Experience - Significant experience as a pharmacy technician, including experience in a leadership or training role, is typically required.
  • Knowledge - A strong understanding of pharmacy procedures, medication dispensing, inventory management, pharmacy automation, and relevant regulations is essential.
  • Skills - Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are necessary for this role.
  • Education - A high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum requirement, but some employers may prefer an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Technology or a related field.

Ensure compliance with all applicable pharmacy regulations, including those related to prescription accuracy, medication safety, and patient confidentiality.

  • Communication and Collaboration:

Communicate effectively with pharmacists, other healthcare professionals, and patients regarding medication-related issues and concerns.

  • Problem Solving:

Problem Solving - Troubleshoot issues related to prescription processing, insurance claims, medication availability, pharmacy automation, and other pharmacy-related problems.

  • Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, medication orders, patient information, and other relevant data.
