JOB DESCRIPTION
Become a theoretical PhD researcher at QuTech, the quantum computing institute at Delft University of Technology! We are looking for a passionate candidate for developing algorithms for simulating quantum circuits (algorithms for regular, classical computers) on noisy quantum devices, with applications such as error mitigation. The focus will be from the theoretical computer science perspective.
The candidate will be one of the first members of a new group, led by Tim Coopmans, which will focus on the development of computational tools (algorithms, software, mathematics) for dealing with errors and other imperfections in quantum computers and networks.
We foster diversity and female candidates are particularly invited to apply.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
At the time of taking the position, the candidate should have a master’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a closely related field, with demonstrable experience in quantum computing or quantum information (such as courses or projects).
Previous experience with simulation algorithms for quantum circuits, the stabilizer formalism, or formal computer science (such as decision diagrams), for example as part of a master thesis or internship, is preferred, but not strictly necessary.
