The Nova Scotia SPCA is hiring a storyteller and communicator who can engage with the communities we serve to support our mission.
The Nova Scotia SPCA is a registered charity dedicated to aiding companion animals in need throughout Nova Scotia. Thanks to the generous support of our donors and clients, we supported nearly 24,000 pets in 2024 through animal welfare efforts, innovative programs, and rehoming initiatives.
The Nova Scotia SPCA Philanthropy Communications Officer is creative, collaborative, and detail-oriented with experience in producing, coordinating, and disseminating communications and marketing materials that contribute to revenue development.
The Philanthropy Communications Officer plays a central role in communicating the SPCA’s vision and values to the public and informing them about programs and events. Critical to this position is understanding storytelling, being comfortable on camera, and confident in outreach by phone and in person. Reporting to the Chief Communications & Marketing Officer, this position will work in a team with leads responsible for fundraising, marketing and communications.
The ideal candidate is a great communicator and collaborator who is eager to learn and gain hands-on experience in marketing, communications, and fundraising. They enjoy working in a fast-paced, creative environment, thrive at meeting deadlines, and adapt readily to change. With the ability to guide projects to stay on target with key audiences, they excel at writing in plain language that is easy to understand, engaging, and tailored to the audience in a relevant and consistent voice and tone.
