Job Description
How you Will Power our Purpose (Job Summary)
Essential to the operations and success of the philanthropic goals of the organization, the Philanthropy Data Specialist assists in high-priority projects, responsible for gathering, documenting, and analyzing organizational program and operational data with a philanthropic lens. This position is responsible for analyzing grant, project, and program data – identifying trends and developing analytics for the Development team and other stakeholders, both internal and external. Reports and projections based on ongoing analysis would require custom reports tied to a variety of specificities depending on the stakeholders and needs. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Development, this role will work closely with all Development team members and relevant departments to meet both team and organization-wide goals.
You will also support the enterprise’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) and the core character values of the YMCA. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President of Development, you will partner closely with other senior leaders throughout the enterprise to achieve outcomes.
This position follows our hybrid work model, allowing for a mix of in-office and remote work arrangements.
Qualifications
What You Bring to the Community Enterprise
Minimum of 3 years of experience in program data evaluation, analysis, visualizations, and extract, analyze, inform, and report. Understanding and application of best practices in visualizations required.
Strong data analysis skills in Power Bi, Microsoft Excel. Relevant experience in Microsoft Power Query, advanced excel experience, and experience with external APIs preferred. Experience with SQL, R, Python, or other language(s) is not mandatory.
Experience in the social impact sector, non-profit/not-for-profit, or government entities a plus (not required).
A desire and interest in utilizing data to articulate the impact of the Greater Austin YMCA programs and initiatives in the community in a compelling way.
Demonstrated strong analytical and critical thinking skills, enabling the translation of data into actionable insights.
Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high levels of accuracy.
Familiarity with fundraising software management programs is beneficial, with a preference for experience in Raiser’s Edge/RENXT, although not mandatory.
Highly organized with the ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple tasks concurrently.

Essential Functions
How You Will Make an Impact (Essential Functions)
Analysis and Reporting 60%
Builds analysis and visualizations, dashboards and reports regularly using appropriate software (Power Bi) for a variety of purposes and audiences, including public reporting, evaluations, decision analytics, quality analysis, and grant or funding required reporting.
Maintains, republishes, and enhances data products and reports according to programmatic or funding specific established cadences and manages those reporting timelines.
Work with grant/foundation team to support letters of intent, grant proposals with analytical information, logic modeling, and data to support impact storytelling.
Assist in the completion of grant follow-up reports in collaboration with Y staff.
Strategy and Evaluation 40%
Participate in organizational discovery processes with cross functional leaders to identify requirements and outcomes for initiatives and program funding opportunities.
Support the design of a data architecture and practice around funding sources and philanthropic opportunities.
In partnership with relevant internal departments, establish and implement quantitative methods and strategies for data collection, analysis, and program evaluation for the Texas Youth & Government program.
