Description

The Philanthropy Officer is responsible for building and maintaining strategic relationships with major donors, identifying and cultivating high-capacity prospects, and implementing comprehensive moves management strategies to drive significant fundraising growth in a fast-paced start-up environment. This role will fundraise for all OneChild initiatives, including the Bridgely platform. The Philanthropy Officer will discover donor motivations, address their interests, and provide an exceptionally personalized and timely donor experience for the goal of securing transformational gifts that will fuel OneChild’s growth and innovation. This role requires entrepreneurial thinking, a keen ability to identify philanthropic opportunities in an emerging market, develop long-term donor relationships, and implement systematic approaches to major gift solicitation and stewardship while building a sustainable fundraising infrastructure.

EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:

  • BA or BS is required
  • Formal professional development and/or training in fundraising, donor relations, or related field
  • Knowledge of philanthropic trends and best practices in major gift development

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in major gift fundraising and donor relationship management
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in moves management and prospect development
  • Demonstrated success in securing major gifts ($20,000 +) and building long-term donor relationships
  • Experience building donor bases and networks
  • Experience utilizing technology and CRM systems for donor tracking and relationship management

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role is eligible for a fully remote schedule with an expectation of up to 40% travel (domestic and potentially international), including attendance at donor events, conferences, and cultivation activities in a variety of locations and settings. If selected for this role, it is expected that the candidate will be available to participate in regular virtual meetings and other collaborative activities across the organization, some of which will be in-person at the home office in Colorado Springs, CO. Office environment with mostly sitting and occasional standing. Light physical effort with occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and qualify major donor prospects through comprehensive research, strategic networking, and relationship mapping, utilizing moves management principles to develop strategic engagement plans for high-capacity individuals and foundations while building OneChild’s, including Bridgely’s, donor base from the ground up.
  • Cultivate relationships with major donors, prospects and foundations through systematic, personalized communications that align donor interests with OneChild’s mission and Bridgely’s innovative solutions.
  • Secure Commitments to give and follow up with outstanding pledges.
  • Ensure exceptional donor experience through personalized stewardship programs and reports that foster long-term philanthropic partnerships.
  • Execute comprehensive moves management processes from initial prospect identification through gift commitments and ongoing stewardship, utilizing CRM systems to track all donor interactions and ensure strategic progression through the development pipeline.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with OneChild staff and other department team members to create compelling funding proposals and ensure donor interests are effectively matched with organizational needs and opportunities.
