Description
Overview The Clinical Services Technician collects specimens on all age populations as assigned with minimal patient impact. Responsible for the processing and allocation of laboratory specimens and orders from all sources. Responsible for verification of proper patient/specimen identification, appropriateness of specimen and accompanying orders. Organizes laboratory workflow and appropriately prioritizes processing and distribution of specimens. Utilizes requisite equipment, instruments, and computer systems to test request, accession, correctly label and deliver specimens to appropriate laboratory sections within acceptable time frames. Performs specified procedures within scope of established testing methods and responsibilities. Performs and appropriately documents routine maintenance and quality control procedures on specified equipment and troubleshoots as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Updates knowledge, skills and applies appropriately. Maintains age-specific and other required competencies. Works both independently and as part of a team with general supervision and/or periodic review by supervisory staff. Experience performing moderate complexity testing such as urine microscopy and post-vasectomy sperm count preferred.
