JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Work Shift: Monday - Friday | 1:00pm - 9:30pm Summary of the Job: Obtains blood specimens by venipuncture or capillary puncture from adult, pediatric and neonatal patients employing proper patient identification and infection control measures. Enters test requests into the laboratory computer system. Performs other support duties such as answering the phone, handling questions from medical/hospital staff, ordering supplies, and investigating discrepant patient orders. Complies with organization’s C.A.R.E.S. standards. Minimum Qualifications: Must hold a high school diploma or equivalent. One (1) year of experience preferred. Excellent customer service skills. Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off. Physical Demands: Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise. Responsibilities
