Description Status Hours: 24hours/week Night Shift (7p-7a) Phlebotomist – Cary Medical Center Cary Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for a Phlebotomist to join our Laboratory team! The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting biological specimens for laboratory testing and assisting laboratory technologists with sample processing. We’re looking for someone who provides patient-centered, compassionate care and helps ensure a positive experience for every patient who visits Cary Medical Center. You’ll be part of a supportive, collaborative team where your skills and contributions truly make a difference. Consistently obtains optimal quality specimens from inpatients and outpatients. Responds promptly to computer orders and telephone requests. Explains the procedure to the patient and answers questions appropriately. Orders the correct tests as indicated on the Medical Provider’s requisition. Responds promptly to STAT and URGENT requests. Completes draw with one needle stick to obtain sufficient quantity of specimen greater than 95% of the time. Collects specimens other than blood samples, such as nasal and nasopharyngeal swabs, for testing. Requirements No license required - on the job training Obtainment of Phlebotomy Certification required within the first 6 months of employment. CPR and basic first aid recommended High school graduate or equivalent GED preferred. Schedule: With consideration to our patients’ and staff needs, you may need to work on days, evenings, nights, weekends and/or holidays and may need to float to other units.
