Job Title: Phlebotomist Department: Laboratory Location: Patient Service Centers Hours Per Week: Full-Time, 40 hours/week Schedule: Varied Day Shift, every third Saturday 7a-12p or Sunday 8a-12p SUMMARY As a Phlebotomist, you ensure safe and effective blood collection for accurate analysis. You serve as a laboratory liaison between patients, nursing personnel and house staff. You demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate individual patient care. RESPONSIBILITIES Patient Care. Provide patient with all necessary information about the procedure; ensure patient is comfortable and safe Blood Collection & Documentation. Collect blood specimens via venipuncture and skin puncture; ensure complete and accurate specimens for testing; prepare specimens for processing and complete any associated paperwork Transportation. Obtain the required specimens/labels and transport to specified area PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: PBT (ASCP) certification preferred Compassionate, warm and patient focused Exceptional communication skills and professional behavior Detail-oriented EDUCATION: LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. PAY RANGE: $20.15 - $20.15 CITY: Rochester POSTAL CODE: 14624 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
