Now Hiring: Seasonal Customer Support Specialist – $20/hr to Talk About Plants and Calm Panicked Gardeners!
Do you have the gift of gab, the patience of a saint, and enough tech skills to at least not call the keyboard “the typer”? Great news! O’Toole’s Garden Center is on the hunt for a Seasonal Customer Support Specialist to help field the springtime garden madness — aka our busiest and most beautiful time of year.
You’ll be the calming voice on the other end of the line when someone panics about tomato blight, can’t find compost, or just wants to know what “full sun” actually means.
Pay: $20/hour (Yes, we pay you to talk. Dreams do come true.)
Where: Our Lakewood Office – 1410 Quail St, Lakewood, CO
When: April 24 – May 31 (a quick seasonal sprint!)
Hours: Part-time | 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM | 5 days/week (including some weekends)

What You’ll Be Doing (Besides Being a Phone Superhero)

  • Answering phones with a smile in your voice (and probably a coffee in hand)
  • Helping customers figure out what’s in stock using our real-time inventory system (and resisting the urge to say, “Did you check the website?”
  • Using Google and AI tools to find answers to gardening questions like “Why are my succulents squishy?”
  • Giving basic gardening advice (Don’t worry—we’ll train you! No need to be a walking plant encyclopedia.)
  • Handling the occasional “spicy” customer with grace, humor, and a deep breath
  • Making sure each caller feels heard, helped, and happy to come visit O’Toole’s

What We’re Looking For (Besides Someone Who’s Awesome at Phone Juggling)

  • Solid communication skills—you can explain things clearly and kindly
  • Confidence with technology (search engines, basic systems, typing with more than two fingers preferred)
  • Some customer service, retail, or call center experience (not required, but we love it!)
  • A calm demeanor, problem-solving mindset, and infinite patience
  • Bonus points if you love plants or are willing to learn some plant-y things on the fly
