Job Details Position Type: Part Time Education Level: High School Student Employment - Marketing Photo/Video Content Creator Charleston Southern University Position Overview: The Office of Marketing & Communication is seeking two creative, visually driven student assistants to join our team as Photo & Video Content Creators. These positions support the university’s marketing and storytelling efforts through compelling photography and video content that captures campus life, student experiences, academic programs, athletics, events, and community impact. Photo & Video Content Creators will work closely with professional marketing staff to produce engaging visual assets for digital, social media, web, and promotional use while ensuring all content aligns with Charleston Southern University’s brand standards, mission, and Christ-centered values. Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities vary by role and may include, but are not limited to: Capture high-quality photos and short-form video content for use across CSU’s digital and social media channels. Assist in filming and editing short videos for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and web features. Provide visual coverage of campus events, academic activities, athletics, chapel, and student life (including occasional evening/weekend events). Edit photos and videos using university-approved tools and formats. Collaborate with the content strategist and marketing team on shot lists, creative concepts, and visual storytelling ideas. Organize and label photo/video assets for easy access and future use. Deliver content according to established timelines and brand guidelines. Provide weekly progress updates to supervising staff. Ensure all visual content reflects CSU’s mission, tone, and brand identity. Required Skills and Attributes: Strong visual storytelling skills and an eye for composition, lighting, and detail. Experience creating photo and video content for social media and digital platforms. Basic photo and video editing skills (smartphone content acceptable). Familiarity with tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, CapCut, Final Cut Pro, or similar software. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team. Strong time management skills and reliability. Creative, adaptable, and willing to receive feedback. Preferred but not required: Experience filming short-form vertical video content. Familiarity with social media trends and best practices. Basic understanding of analytics or performance metrics for visual content. Hours: Approximately 6–8 hours per week. Flexible scheduling with hours distributed across the week. Availability for occasional evening and weekend events is required. Hours will be logged through the university’s work study program. Compensation: Hourly wage, based on university student employment guidelines. MarComm Student Employment reports to Jenna Johnson, Executive Director of Marketing & Communication. Students enrolled in courses during the semester they are working are FICA-exempt.
