PHOTOGRAPHER III * Selects from a range of standard photographic equipment for assignments demanding exact renditions, normally without opportunity for later retakes, when there are specific problems or uncertainties concerning lighting, exposure time, color, artistry, etc. * Job tasks require this worker to discuss technical requirements with operating officials or supervisor and customize treatment for each situation according to a detailed request, vary camera processes and techniques, and use the setting and background to produce aesthetics, as well as accurate and informative pictures. Typically, standard equipment (DSLR and mirrorless cameras, lenses, exposure meters, speedlights, etc) is used at this level, although "specialized" photography can be performed using some special-purpose equipment under closer supervision. * In typical assignments, the Photographer III photographs: (1) ceremonial events requiring lighting setups to produce photo-journalistic imagery for documentation, historic, and newsworthy public release purposes; (2) drawings, charts, maps, textiles, etc., requiring accurate computation of reduction ratios and exposure times and precise equipment adjustments; (3) official military portraits under controlled 4-light lighting setups to produce 3:1 lighting ratios for standard portraits while using pose directing techniques for accurate rendition of subject likeness; (4) location (breaking news, sports, military training, and material deficiency report) assignments. * Work involves using pertinent journalism information gathering techniques for caption writing and submission to DoD image distribution service (DVIDS), social media and operational outlets; (5) existing facilities and structures specific to U.S. Space Force missions and activities for informational and historic records. * Some additional video teleconferencing and graphics services will also be required and in-house training in these tasks will be provided.  * This person works independently and collaborates with a small team of highly trained photographers. Qualifications: * Must possess a high school diploma but Associates or Bachelors degree is preferred. * Must have 3-5 years of photography experience in studio and location image acquisition, digital camera usage, lighting configurations, and image editing with digital editing software and Mac/PC based workstations. * Must have and maintain an active DoD Secret clearance * Some graphics and video-teleconferencing is also preferred. * Ability to pass a preliminary drug and background check and must have or be eligible for a Personnel Security Clearance. (Criminal background, active drug use, ongoing financial distress, and other factors may disqualify the candidate from obtaining a clearance). * Must be a US citizen, possessing authorization to work in the United States. * Candidate must possess relevant skills and be prepared to present an active portfolio of images captured within prior 5 years. Schriever specific familiarization job training will be provided.
