We are seeking a passionate and skilled Physical Education Teacher to inspire students, develop their physical literacy, and promote a healthy, active lifestyle across Early Years and Primary School. Position Overview The Physical Education Teacher will teach PE from N1 to Grade 5, providing safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate lessons. The role emphasises inquiry-led learning and holistic development, fostering confidence, resilience, teamwork, and a lifelong love of physical activity. The PE teacher will also contribute to the broader school life through school events, sports days, enrichment programmes, and extracurricular activities. Key Responsibilities Teaching and Learning Deliver high-quality PE lessons across N1 to Grade 5, ensuring activities are inclusive, engaging, and appropriate for each developmental stage. Integrate inquiry-based learning principles, encouraging students to explore, reflect, and take ownership of their physical learning. Develop students’ fundamental movement skills, coordination, fitness, teamwork, and confidence. Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners, including EAL students or those requiring differentiated support. Promote healthy lifestyles, personal well-being, and safe participation in physical activity. Support integrating physical development concepts into broader inquiry themes when relevant. Assessment and Monitoring Observe, assess, and document students’ physical development and progress. Maintain accurate records of achievement and provide constructive feedback to students and parents. Contribute to student portfolios, class displays, and newsletters as appropriate. School Community and Environment Lead and support school-wide sporting events, including Sports Day, house competitions, and wellbeing activities. Organise and supervise after-school sports clubs and co-curricular activities. Promote participation of all students in physical activity, regardless of ability. Encourage positive sportsmanship, teamwork, and resilience. Health, Safety and Equipment Ensure PE spaces are safe, well-organised, and effectively utilised. Manage, maintain, and store PE equipment responsibly. Conduct risk assessments for lessons, activities, and events. Follow all safeguarding policies and procedures. Promote health and safety practices, including warm-ups, hydration, sun safety, and injury prevention. Collaboration and Professional Growth Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate physical activity into broader learning where appropriate. Participate in staff meetings, professional learning, and school events. Maintain professional, supportive communication with parents and colleagues. Engage in ongoing professional development related to PE, health, and wellbeing. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Education, Physical Education, Sports Science, or related field. Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed., Diploma in Teaching, or equivalent). Experience teaching PE to Early Years and/or Primary students. Understanding of inquiry-based learning and age-appropriate physical development. Ability to create inclusive, safe, and motivating learning environments. Excellent communication, organisation, and relationship-building skills. Experience in an international school environment with IPC or other inquiry/international curricula is beneficial. Coaching, first aid, or movement/sport-specific certifications. Experience organising school sports events, house programmes, or ECAs.
