Description Physical Education Teacher: Full Time Basilica School of St. Paul Daytona Beach, Florida Description DIOCESE OF ORLANDO OFFICE OF CATHOLIC SCHOOLS POSITION DESCRIPTION – CATHOLIC SCHOOL PE TEACHER Job Title – P.E. Teacher The teacher is a qualified professional educator who meets the requirements to teach in a Catholic school in the Diocese of Orlando. Accountability The teacher is hired by and is directly accountable to the principal. The teacher agrees to abide by the educational policies and procedures of the Diocese of Orlando and the Office of Catholic Schools as well as comply with the educational policies and procedures of the local school. The teacher cooperates with the principal and staff in providing an educational environment that promotes the ministry of Catholic education. General Responsibilities As a professional educator in a Catholic school, the teacher will: · teach and act in accordance with Catholic doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church; · understand and appropriately teach the curriculum of the Diocese of Orlando; · assess student progress in accordance with the approved procedures of the Diocese of Orlando; · know, teach and act consistently in accordance with the mission, philosophy, objectives, and policies and procedures of the Catholic school; · maintain Florida state teaching certification; · communicate regularly with parents/guardians, colleagues and principal; · participate in the Diocese of Orlando Diocesan Catechist Certification Program and in Diocesan and school-sponsored professional development programs; · perform teaching duties as assigned by the principal; · attend required faculty and staff meetings; · cooperate with the principal and staff members in school-related meetings, activities and projects; · maintain accurate student attendance and academic records; · maintain a safe, orderly and secure learning and working environment; follow the school wide behavioral management plan with regard to before, during and after class activities. Communicate regularly with the athletic director and principal regarding athletic events, sports teams, field day, etc... Attend after school sport events Coach Catholic Youth sports' teams as needed throughout the year. Recruit coaches for Catholic Youth Sports' teams · participate in the semi-annual performance review based upon the implementation of the general responsibilities of a professional educator in a school; and · maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students and general school matters. The principal assigns specific tasks essential to the function of the position. Environmental and Physical Demands Employee must be able to be outdoors for extended periods of time Employee must be able to lift and move sports equiptment Employee must be able to stay on feet and be active the majority of the school day. The teacher supervises and evaluates students, escorts students from building to building and on field trips (being responsible for keeping field trip permission slips as well as student medical information forms). Requirements and Preferences · Practicing Catholic preferred Spanish Speaker Preferred · Compliance with Diocesan FBI fingerprint clearance and compliance with Safe Environment training and test requirements · Appropriate Florida State Teaching Certification The position description is given to the employee and is also kept in the employee’s school personnel file.
