JOB OVERVIEW

AB Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Physical Education Teacher to lead our health and wellness program across elementary, middle, and high school. The successful candidate will promote lifelong fitness, teamwork, and healthy living through engaging lessons and extracurricular activities. This role supports students’ physical, social, and emotional development while aligning with the Ontario Curriculum and fostering AB Academy’s holistic vision of education.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Islamic values.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical and Health Education or a related field.
  • Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification, or eligibility to obtain.
  • Strong knowledge of the Ontario Health & Physical Education curriculum (Grades K–12).
  • Proven ability to lead safe and inclusive physical education classes.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
  • Experience coaching or leading school athletics programs is an asset.
  • Familiarity with IB MYP Physical and Health Education framework preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver Physical Education lessons for students across K–12, aligned with the Ontario Curriculum.
  • Promote health, fitness, and wellness through active, engaging instruction.
  • Foster sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Differentiate activities to meet the needs of diverse learners and promote inclusivity.
  • Organize and supervise school athletics, intramural activities, and sports events.
  • Ensure safety in all physical education environments, including gymnasium and outdoor spaces.
  • Incorporate mental health and wellness education into the curriculum, including topics such as mental health awareness and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support school-wide initiatives in health and well-being.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student growth and participation.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, including training aligned with IB MYP frameworks.
