QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Primary Education.
  • Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
  • Experience in teaching Physical Education at the primary school level is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, students, and families.
  • Commitment to child safety and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with students, encouraging confidence, participation, and a sense of belonging in all aspects of Physical Education.
  • Plan and deliver a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate Physical Education program for primary-aged students that promotes physical literacy, enjoyment of movement, and lifelong healthy habits.
  • Create engaging and inclusive PE lessons that foster students’ physical, social, and emotional wellbeing through a variety of sports, games, and active experiences.
  • Promote positive values such as teamwork, resilience, and respect through structured physical activity.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all physical activities by adhering to risk management practices and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Support and contribute to the planning of whole-school events such as athletics carnivals, interschool sports, and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialist colleagues to embed movement and health education into broader learning where appropriate.
  • Monitor and assess student progress in Physical Education, providing meaningful feedback to support development and growth.
  • Uphold and actively model the Catholic identity, values, and ethos of the school in all professional interactions and practices.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning aligned with the MACS Vision for Instruction and Vision for Engagement, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Play an active role in establishing the culture and identity of St Marianne Cope Catholic Primary School as a foundation staff member.
