Description

Are you a registered nurse looking for a role within Forensic Services where you can make a real difference to the lives of our patients?
We are recruiting for a Physical Health Nurse to join our team and champion physical healthcare, health promotion, and illness prevention across our forensic services. You’ll play a vital role in educating staff, students, and patients, helping to optimise service users’ ability to take charge of their own physical wellbeing.
You’ll be a visible, approachable, and expert presence—working directly in clinical settings, supporting staff, and collaborating within a dynamic multidisciplinary team. You’ll ensure physical health needs are thoroughly assessed and addressed, promoting a proactive approach to care.
This role is based at our Littlemore Mental Health Centre in Oxford and covers all 10 wards within our low secure and medium secure forensic units across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
Working closely with ward-based health leads, our community team, and wider services like physiotherapy, you’ll help shape a joined-up, patient-centred approach to physical health. If this sounds like your next career move, we would love to hear from you!
This role includes an RSU allowance of £1,446 per annum on top of your salary
Provide clinical judgment, expertise and advice on all aspects of physical health nursing, health promotion and illness prevention to staff, students and/or patients/clients.
Optimise the service users’ potential to participate in promoting and maintaining their own good physical health.
Support progress on the implementation and embedding of key areas of work aimed at addressing health inequalities for our patients and identifying deteriorating patients, such as NEWS2, physical health monitoring, care planning and wellbeing clinics.
Support the Head of Nursing and their team in delivering the Trusts’ physical health strategy and National drivers aligned with the NHS Long Term Plan, and participate in clinical audit in relation to physical health. Contribute to research as required.
