We are looking for a nurse who has extensive knowledge of physical health nursing and is a good teacher as well as being able to work as part of a team.
The physical health lead nurse will work with the staff from the acute mental health wards, giving advice on physical health care and health care plans. The applicant should be able to demonstrate nursing skills such as preforming ECGs, venepuncture and wound care. Also to be able to link with other physical health services and organisations.
We would welcome applications from all Registered Nursing staff.
You will work within and alongside clinical staff in inpatient settings to support them in prioritising physical health, using mixed approaches including teaching sessions, direct hands-on assessment, role modelling and problem solving in ensuring that patients of the services have physical health assessments.
You will need to be able to work closely and within multiple teams and be effective at understanding local challenges and working with colleagues to resolve these. You will be a “go-to” person for physical health and will need to develop excellent relationships with teams and colleagues.

To coordinate, champion and provide leadership to colleagues for physical health care within a mental health setting and enable continuous improvement in quality and performance.
The Physical Health nurse will be expected to demonstrate a professional manner which is caring and compassionate, to advocate for the physical healthcare needs of the patients whilst also being able to deal effectively with the demands of a mental health ward.
Regular supervision and appraisal is offered and personal and professional development is positively encourage
The Physical Health nurse will work in a role combining pre-existing mental and physical health skills and acquiring new ones as necessary, in order to promote the health and wellbeing of our patients.
This role offers the opportunity to help develop existing and future initiatives in physical health monitoring and intervention, whilst being supported to be innovative in the way we offer holistic care. This role would allow the role holder to maintain the requirements for revalidation in their physical health areas of practice and leadership.
