Looking for a new challenge working in mental health care? Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust (NHFT) has a vacancy for a Band 6 Physical Healthcare Lead across older adult inpatient wards. NHFT is a forward thinking and innovative trust which was graded ‘Outstanding’ in the last CQC inspection.
We are looking for a self-motivated and resourceful Registered General Nurse to join our team. You will be responsible for the implementation of the required Physical Health monitoring of all patients, including ECG’s, venepuncture, NEWS and similar. You will also be responsible for delivering training sessions and the on-going training of staff to ensure these interventions continuously meet the high standards set by the Trust, in relation to both quality and determined deadlines.
You will be at the forefront of shaping the ward teams development in these areas, working alongside your MDT colleagues to ensure that services provided are responsive, flexible to the patients’ needs and measurable. You will be involved in developing and delivering 1-1 and group training to the staff team, and be involved in undertaking audits and meeting Cquin expectations whilst forging positive links with our quality teams.
IT literate with ability to use electronic systems.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to utilize them to communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary and team based working environment.
Good time management and organizational skills.

Participate in service improvement
The post holder will assist in the development and delivery of high-quality care that meets the needs of the patients. They will be involved in developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care, in the continuing development of the team, participating in the supervision and appraisal process and in professional development of team members.
Provide teaching sessions and support to upskill staff in providing physical health care.
Be responsible for the monitoring of patients physical health conditions
There are 2 Older Adult Units based at Berrywood Hospital. Riverside Unit is a purpose built 12 bedded in-patient unit for service-users aged 65 years and over experiencing mental health difficulties and Brookview is our specialist 12 bedded Dementia ward. They offer modern comfortable accommodation for service users and are a pleasant environment for carers to visits their family and friends and for staff to work in. As a hospital we strive to continually improve the care that we deliver as well as nurturing the relationships we have with our service users, carers and other people involved in an individual’s care.
NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
