The Position ALS Coal currently has opportunities available for a Casual, Physical Laboratory Testing (PTL) based at our site in Mayfield, NSW. The position will require shift work (day, afternoon, night) on a rotating roster. Optional overtime is available through busy periods. The position requirements include but are not limited to: Ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe & efficient manner Handling coal samples and processing them according to instructions & current best methods. Loading and unloading coal samples from various plant streams. A range of physical tests including sample preparation, sizing, crushing, dividing and sample storage. Transfer validated results into the reporting system Calibration and maintenance of specialised equipment. Requirements: A valid driver’s license Current rights to work in Australia (visa, permanent resident or citizen) A strong focus on safety, quality and teamwork Strong numeracy and literacy skills Ability to organise work, multi-task and meet tight deadlines Ability to work independently without supervision Comfortable with safe manual handling duties, including repetitive lifting Competent within a strong safety culture Eagerness to learn and adapt to new systems Previous coal sampling experience would be an advantage but not essential Flexible and be able to perform shift work and weekend work as required NOTE: Full training will be provided to successful applicants As part of the selection process, pre-employment medical exam is required, including drug and alcohol assessment. Responsibilities
