OVERVIEW

The Physical Therapist Assistant plays a crucial role in the rehabilitation process, working under the supervision of licensed physical therapists to provide patient care and support. This position involves assisting patients in their recovery journey, implementing treatment plans, and ensuring a safe and effective therapeutic environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology, as well as experience in various settings such as inpatient facilities, skilled nursing, home health, outpatient clinics, and more.

SKILLS

  • Proficient knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to physical therapy practices.
  • Experience in various settings such as inpatient care, skilled nursing facilities, home health services, outpatient clinics, orthopedics, geriatrics, pediatrics, and acute care environments.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for providing compassionate patient care and fostering positive relationships with patients and their families.
  • Familiarity with discharge planning processes to facilitate seamless transitions for patients post-treatment. This role is essential for enhancing the quality of life for patients through dedicated support in their rehabilitation journey.

Responsibilities
  • Assist physical therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans for patients.
  • Provide direct patient care through therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques including trigger point therapy, and modalities as prescribed.
  • Monitor patient progress and document treatment outcomes accurately in compliance with medical terminology standards.
  • Educate patients and their families on care plans, home exercises, and lifestyle modifications to enhance recovery.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care, including discharge planning for smooth transitions.
