For additional information visit our New Employee Resources [https://hr.dpsk12.org/o/careers/page/new-employees] page.   What You'll Do: * Evaluates students, identifies and documents goals, and participates in Intervention or Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, providing direct motor based physical therapy services as directed * Collaborates and communicates with teachers, staff, and parent(s) about student therapy plans and strategies that address motor skill areas such as but not limited to independent daily living skills, gross motor, functional mobility, fine motor, and visual motor * Modifies the educational environment; provides adaptive equipment for student access; and trains classroom personnel to properly lift and transfer students, use adaptive equipment and wheelchairs, and provide other services * Participates in meetings, conferences, and workshops and serves on committees   * Follows compliance laws for meeting federal and state mandates as well as local policies in the performance of duties such as Individualized Education Program (IEP) development, Medicaid billing, and report writing * Other duties, as assigned.   What You’ll Need: * Minimum of a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy is required * Experience with pediatric population is preferred * Must hold current Colorado Department of Education Special Provider License with an Endorsement in Physical Therapy * Must hold a Physical Therapy License from DORA;  * Must hold a valid Colorado driver’s license and ability to meet District insurability requirements * Bilingual in Spanish or another language preferred but not required * Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.  * Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.   * Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands [https://financialservices.dpsk12.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/23/OTPT.pdf] of the position.   Denver Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender expression, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, age, disability, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service, or any other status protected by law or regulations. Responsibilities
The Physical Therapist evaluates students, documents goals, participates in IEP meetings, and provides direct motor-based physical therapy services. They also collaborate with staff and parents on therapy plans addressing various motor skills and modify the educational environment as needed.
