POPULATION SERVED The position involves direct patient care for a population of patient between the ages of 18 and older. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise is required to serve this population. Requirements POSITION SUMMARY Under close supervision of Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant, the Physical Therapy Aide performs only delegated, selected, or routine tasks in specific situations related to Physical Therapy. These duties include preparing the patient and the treatment area and support the Physical Therapist with treating the patients and helping them prepare for therapy sessions. The Physical Therapy Aide may work with patients on certain therapy exercises and treatments under the supervision of Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapy Aide is responsible for maintaining treatment areas, as well as the equipment inside the rooms. Some administrative duties may be required to fulfill throughout the day, the aide may answer phones and greet patients as they come in and out of the therapy department. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED is required, excellent customer service skills, possess a strong organization abilities and be able to follow directions clearly and efficiently. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, and the emotionally upset. Familiar with MDS RUG System. 2+ years of experience in a Rehab Therapy Department is preferred. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Aides may assist the therapist in the movement and transfer of patients with mobility impairments, and must be trained in proper methods of body mechanics for patient assistance. This may include transferring patients from beds to wheelchairs and transporting them to areas in the hospital or clinical practice. · Transports patients to and from treatment areas, using wheelchairs or providing standing support. · Setting up treatments rooms, cleaning the therapy room daily, sanitizing training bars and tables and cleaning equipment and therapy supplies. · Organizes work area and disinfect equipment after treatment. · Helps safeguard and assist patients practicing exercised and functional activities, under direction of Physical Therapy licensed staff · Assist Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistants with patients into or onto therapy equipment. · Assist with ordering and stocking of supplies and inventory when needed. · Communicates effectively with patients, families, team members, supervisors, Director of Rehab Services, and others involved in service delivery. · Report changes in patient's condition to appropriate staff member s and other health care professionals. · Assist the practice in a variety of technical, non-clinical capacities, including treatment setups and routine patient care tasks, such as applying heat packs. · Actively participates in in-service training programs.
