POSITION OVERVIEW PHYSICAL THERAPY AIDE TUOLUMNE ME-WUK INDIAN HEALTH CENTER POSITION TITLE: Physical Therapist Aide REPORTS TO: Director of Physical Therapy SUPERVISES: None POSITION STATUS: Non-Exempt BENEFITS: Per Policy POSITION SUMMARY: Working under the administrative supervision of the Director of Physical Therapy, the PT Aide supports physical therapy care delivery by preparing treatment area, patient, equipment and materials, performing modalities and procedures all under the supervision of a physical therapist. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: (include but are not limited to the following) The role involves preparing treatment rooms and patients for physical therapy by adhering to established procedures and protocols. This includes welcoming patients, helping them into appropriate therapy apparel, and providing assistance with various therapeutic modalities such as heat packs, paraffin dips, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and whirlpool therapy. The position also involves guiding patients onto exercise equipment, monitoring their movements, and assisting them with prescribed exercises and mobility activities. Patient interaction is a key component of the job, requiring the provision of information, answering questions, and addressing concerns to ensure a comfortable experience. Educating patients on the correct use of equipment and exercise routines is also essential, along with maintaining confidentiality and adhering to safety regulations to create a clean and secure environment. The ability to engage positively with patients, staff, and other professionals is crucial for the success of this role. Additionally, the position includes monitoring and maintaining inventory levels of linen, supplies, and durable medical equipment, as well as performing various other tasks as assigned. A commitment to the goals of the Health Center and a professional attitude toward coworkers and patients are fundamental to performing effectively in this role. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience: • High School diploma or GED Preferred Qualifications: • One (1) year of experience in a physical therapy clinic preferred • Basic Life Support certification preferred • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook Express preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Walking, standing, and sitting for prolonged periods of time; climbing stairs, step-stools, etc.; stooping, kneeling, crouching, balancing, and reaching; pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50 pounds; raising objects overhead; manual dexterity for operation of computer and phones; hearing, talking, and good verbal and written communication skills; repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers; subject to outside environmental conditions of heat and cold; and walking on uneven ground. The position requires the ability to safely operate and drive a motor vehicle.
