Description General Statement: Advanced Pain Care advocates the appropriate and effective management of chronic pain through a multi-disciplinary approach. Our team of qualified professionals has received advanced training to treat our patients. Job Purpose: The Physical Therapist Assistant will work closely with the Physical Therapist to provide rehabilitative care to patients. DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: Primary and essential job duties are as follows: Promotes and maintains health by providing physical therapy services under the supervision of a physical therapist. Contributes to a physical therapist’s effectiveness by identifying patient care issues. Administers treatment programs for patients. Assesses patient health by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, and obtaining updating, and studying therapy histories. Evaluates abnormal conditions by reviewing physical therapist’s interpretations of patient evaluations and test results. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Performs therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises and instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities. Helps patients in using supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses. Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens, giving normal growth and development information, and promoting wellness and health maintenance. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Maintains production objectives by noting current treatment trends and monitoring actual physical therapy services rendered to production objectives. Maintains legal and accreditation compliance by adhering to policy positions concerning federal, state, and local regulations and JACHO standards. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading periodicals, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. Enhances physical therapy reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Perform other duties as assigned SUPERVISION Reports to the Physical Therapist Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduated from an Accredited PTA program with a Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant License: Must posses a valid Physical Therapist Assistant License in the State of Texas WORKING CONDITIONS Environmental Conditions: Medical Office environment Physical Conditions: · Must be able to work as scheduled – typically from 8:00 – 5:00 M-F · Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time · Must be able to bend, stoop and stretch · Must be able to lift and move boxes and other items weighing up to 30 pounds. · Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment, etc. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: · Detail oriented · Compassionate · Conscientious · Clear and precise communication (written and oral) · Extensive knowledge of medical terminology · Effectively manages day by organizing and prioritizing · Applies tactful principles and practices of dealing with the public · Practices safety · Protects patient information and maintains confidentiality · CPR certified
