The Oklahoma City Indian Clinic is looking for a Physical Therapy Assistant who provides direct therapy procedures and interventions under the General/Direct supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Must be an individual who is able to multitask in a fast paced and energetic environment while producing great customer service to our OKCIC patients. Assess patient performance commensurate with their training and qualifications. The Physical Therapy Assistant will provide physical therapy treatment and patient care according to clinic, state, professional and federal regulations and guidelines. Requires effective communication skills for working with/educating patients, families, and caregivers as well as for departmental and interdepartmental relationships. Maintains open and on-going communication with clinic departments to ensure patient, staff, and clinic needs are met. The Physical Therapy Assistant will perform physical therapy treatment tests as delegated by and supervised by Physical Therapist. Recommends equipment or alteration to architectural barriers to the therapist of record for their respective discipline. Is responsible for providing a variety of physical therapy techniques to carry out the physical therapist’s plan of care for the patient, including therapeutic exercise, functional training, deep soft tissue massage, and physical modalities such as electrotherapy and ultrasound. May also assist the physical therapist by working with individuals to prevent loss of mobility by implementing fitness and wellness-orientated programs for healthier and more active lifestyles. Provide balance and gaittraining, motor learning and development, and patient and family education. Communicates and documents treatment and appropriate charges for treatment as directed by Physical Therapist. Demonstrates time management skills. Offers assistance to other therapist staff if caseload is unbalanced.
