Description ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Perform complete, detailed and accurate histories, review patient records to develop comprehensive medical status reports, and order laboratory, radiological and diagnostic studies appropriate for complaint, age, race, sex and physical condition of the patient. • Completes physical examinations and record pertinent data in acceptable medical forms. • Makes medical diagnoses and institute therapy or referrals of patients to the appropriate health care facilities, agencies, other resources of the community, or other physicians. • Interpret and evaluate patient data to determine patient management and treatment. • Provide instructions and guidance regarding medical care matters to patients. • Perform or assist in the following routine laboratory medical techniques and the following routine therapeutic procedures: o The collection of materials for bacteriological or viral culture. o Injections - subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous o Debridement, suture and care of superficial wounds. o Removal of sutures. o Administration of subcutaneous local anesthesia o Incision and drainage of superficial skin infections. • Perform or assist in the following surgical procedures: o Pre and post-op care o Surgical assisting. o Wound debridement. o Incise and drain abscesses o Incise and drain abscesses o Biopsies o Closures • Maintains strict confidentiality. • Treats staff, physicians, visitors and patients with dignity and respect. • Performs other related work as required. Requirements LICENSURE: • Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice is required. EDUCATION: • Diploma • Graduate of an accredited school of professional Physician Assisting Required.
Responsibilities
The Physician Assistant will perform comprehensive patient assessments, including detailed histories and physical examinations, to develop medical diagnoses and institute appropriate therapy or referrals. Responsibilities also include performing various routine laboratory techniques and assisting in or performing specific surgical procedures.
