POSITION OVERVIEW Seeking a Physician Assistant that will work directly with the attending spine surgeon (in Golden and Westminster) to provide comprehensive care across the continuum of treatment, including clinic, hospital, and operating room settings. This role involves evaluating new and established patients, perioperative management, surgical assistance, and coordination of care to ensure high-quality, efficient patient outcomes. This position requires focused attention, evaluation, and management of patient cases in a collaborative environment at the largest orthopedic group in Colorado! ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Evaluate and manage new patients, preoperative, and postoperative spine patients in clinic and hospital settings Obtain focused medical histories, perform physical exams, and triage specialty-related complaints appropriately Formulate and present assessments and plans to the supervising physician Assist in the operating room, including exposure, retraction, instrumentation, closure, and intraoperative patient management Perform inpatient rounds on post-surgical and consult patients Manage perioperative care, including pre-op clearance coordination, consent review, and postoperative follow-up Order, review, and interpret diagnostic studies (MRI, CT, X-rays, EMG, injections) Respond to patient calls, messages, and portal communications; provide clinical guidance and education Refill medications and manage postoperative pain and wound care under physician direction Coordinate surgical cases, ensuring all required documentation, imaging, and equipment are available for surgery Complete disability, FMLA, and related medical paperwork Participate in evening and weekend call coverage as required Collaborate with clinical staff, hospital teams, and ancillary services to optimize patient flow and outcomes Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising physician or practice leadership Requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program Current PA licensure (or eligibility) and NCCPA certification Strong interest in orthopedic spine surgery preferred as well as prior spine or orthopedic experience Ability to work independently while functioning as part of a high-performing surgical team Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills Proficiency with EMR systems and clinical documentation WORKING CONDITIONS Clinic, hospital, and operating room environments Regular standing, walking, and assisting in surgery for extended periods Ability to lift and position patients and surgical equipment (up to 50 lbs) Schedule primarily Monday–Friday, with early starts, late finishes, and call coverage as needed.
