OVERVIEW
The Physician Assistant (PA) is an unregulated health care provider who works under the supervision of a registered physician. The PA supports the physician as the principle medical-decision maker and the supervising physician is responsible for the direction of the PA’s activities.
All PA activity will take place within the physician-patient relationship, whether actual or imminent. The goal of the PA is to provide health care to patients having first established a partnership of trust with the supervising physician that is then extended to the patients of the physician’s practice. Under the supervision of a physician, PAs meet the needs of the patients by treating immediate illness, guiding patients through recovery, advising them on healthie rchoices, and educating them on disease prevention.
The PA will report to the Transitional Care/Complex Continuing Care (CCC) Health Service which provides non-acute care services to an adult (predominantly senior) population. Our service is committed to providing highquality, compassionate care, which respects and values each individual and focuses on
informed health management, individual choice and quality of life. Kew Beach Unit/Transitional Care delivers are for patients awaiting transition home with supports and transfers to long-term care or another facility, including seniors who are cognitively impaired requiring specialized environment and care. The PA will support the care for the patients and families within the program.
