Description GENERAL SUMMARY The Physician Assistant supports both physicians and patients by working in close consultation with them. Physician Assistants act as liaisons between the competing demands of patients, staff, and family. The individual must work well within a team, excel at patient care, be effective at communication, and assist in the overall development of high-quality patient care. This is achieved through in-depth patient histories, physical exams, laboratory tests and data collection. The ability to develop plans of care, prescribe medications, and educate patients about treatment options is essential to success of this position. Requirements ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Responsible for the clinical management of health care to patients referred to the Practice. Perform duties per the current Physician Assistant Delegation Agreement and Standardized Procedures. Perform independent initial consultations in the clinic, complete evaluations, and devise/implement therapeutic intervention. Order tests and procedures necessary to evaluate and treat patients. Exercise sound clinical judgement on conditions requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the Practice’s physicians. Clinical requirement on patient visits (in-office or telehealth), per established Practice/Policy standards under the APP Salary Policy. Review patient preparation for upcoming operative interventions, including preop consults, preop screening appointments, anti-coagulant perioperative management, and postoperative follow-up. Responsibilities may include patient hospital rounds and scheduled on-call duties, as determined by clinic operations. Manages a panel of urologic patients, which may include patients within the subspeciality focus. Performs other position related duties as assigned. Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS PA license and certification as required by state. BLS certification required, ACLS preferred. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Physician Assistant Master’s degree from an accredited program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Urology Experience preferred. Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR). REQUIRED TRAVEL As needed between office locations and/or hospital.
