Job Title: Physician Assistant (PA) / Nurse Practitioner (NP)  Department: University Orthopedics - OrthoDirect (Orthopedic Urgent Care)    GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Orthopedic Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) - is responsible for the comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and nonoperative management of patients presenting with acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries or conditions. Working within the Orthopedic Urgent Care, OrthoDirect, the APP provides timely, patient-centered care, collaborating closely with orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize outcomes and patient satisfaction.  Essential Job Functions: * Perform comprehensive evaluations, including detailed histories, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic imaging and laboratory results. * Formulate differential diagnoses and implement evidence-based, nonoperative treatment plans for musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. * Perform and/or assist with joint injections, splinting, casting, bracing, and other orthopedic procedures. * Order and interpret diagnostic studies such as X-rays, MRI, and CT scans. * Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons and other team members for coordinated patient management and continuity of care. * Provide patient education on injury prevention, treatment plans, and rehabilitation strategies. * Participate in Division research and educational activities. * Interact and work with orthopedic surgery residents and division fellows. * Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). * Ensure a high standard of patient care while supporting efficient clinic flow. * Additional duties as assigned to meet the needs of OrthoDirect.      Requirements:  * Must have an active RI PA license or be eligible for a license as a PA in RI and or MA.  * 2 years+ experience as an orthopedic PA or a new PA graduate with orthopedic experience. * Interpersonal skills including excellent communication skills to deal effectively with staff, patients, and physicians in a knowledgeable, professional, and courteous manner. * Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient records. * Must be able to travel to all sites if/when necessary.
