QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed with CPSA
  • Experience in a medical clinic, preferably in primary care or family medicine
  • Knowledge of Alberta medical billing and coding practices
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Strong clinical judgment and commitment to ethical, patient-centered care
  • Proficiency with EMR systems (experience with AVA EMR is an asset)

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality, patient-focused care under the supervision of a family physician
  • Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and obtain detailed patient medical histories
  • Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory investigations and imaging
  • Formulate and implement evidence-based treatment plans for acute and chronic health conditions
  • Prescribe and administer medications, and injections in accordance with Alberta regulations and clinic protocols
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures, suturing, wound care, and other in-office interventions
  • Provide patient education on disease prevention, healthy living, and treatment options tailored to individual needs
  • Offer mental health and addiction counselling within scope of practice
  • Coordinate patient care with specialists and allied health providers, ensuring continuity and timely follow-up
  • Document all patient encounters accurately and promptly in AVA EMR, ensuring compliance with privacy laws and clinic standards
  • Support chronic disease management programs (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, asthma) and preventive care initiatives
  • Respond to urgent patient concerns within scope, escalating to the supervising physician when appropriate
  • Participate in discharge planning and arrange follow-up appointments as needed
  • Engage in clinic quality improvement projects and participate in case discussions and team meetings
  • Mentor or provide guidance to other clinical team members when required
