Job Summary: An allied health professional, employed by Erlanger Health Systems, who performs as a physician extender by providing direct and indirect patient care (both inpatient and outpatient) under orders of the attending physician and any others as defined by the Collaborative agreement the PA has with the collaborating physician and within the guidelines of the current legislation of the State of Tennessee. This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices� patient population. Participates in the practice�s quality improvement process and performance evaluation. Education: Required: - Graduate of a Physician Assistant Program accredited by the American Academy of Physician Assistant. BS/BA required. Preferred: - Master�s degree program preferred. Experience: Required: - One to three years� experience in practicing specialty. Preferred: - Critical Care or Emergency Department experience Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration Required: - Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician�s Assistants - Performs under current legislation of the State of Tennessee (HB 1601, Public Chapter #719) - BLS - ACLS Preferred: - Current certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Department Position Summary: An allied health professional, employed by Erlanger Health Systems, who performs as a physician extender by providing direct and indirect patient care (both inpatient and outpatient) under orders of the attending physician and within the guidelines of the current legislation of the State of Tennessee. Provides clinical expertise and continuity of care for trauma service patients and their families on an ongoing basis from time of admission to time of discharge. Assist the Trauma Program to meet departmental goals and objectives. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate for the age of the patients served by the program. Organizational functions include but are not limited to, policies and regulations, current trends and new developments. Flexible and willing to take on new tasks and participate in new projects. The APP will: - Collaborate with the Trauma Surgeons, trauma residents and other disciplines daily to organize care delivery and to facilitate the flow of the patient through the system. - Provide input in the development of standardized procedures and guidelines designed to improve patient care and outcomes. - Participate in educational projects, i.e. in services with nursing staff, TNCC/ATCN, annual credentialing, ATLS, etc. - Participate in any Trauma Prevention Programs offered in the region.
