Description
Examine patients, obtain medical histories and order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests. Counsel patients about illness, injuries, health conditions, and preventive healthcare. Acts independently, consistently exercises discretion and judgment. Responsibilities: • Provides medical care and conducts patient interviews, examinations, diagnosis, and rendering of appropriate medical or surgical treatment. • Educates patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection through interpersonal communication and/or the provision of informational materials to patients and family members. • Assesses need for, and as may be clinically indicated, refers patients to additional health care providers for additional specialty care. • Assesses urgency of patient medical care needs in determining necessary follow-up schedule and/or referral/consultation appointments. • Exercises sound medical judgment in all issues pertinent to medical diagnosis and treatment on each patient’s behalf. Required: • Current Michigan license to practice medicine. • Obtain and maintain medical staff privileges at appropriate subsidiary hospital(s). • Board certification in area of specialty, where required.
