EMS EDUCATION

  • Provide monthly Physician Medical Director updates and case reviews.
  • Participate in hands-on training and education, including established airway and cardiac academies and other regular course offerings identified by the EMS Division Chief.
  • Deliver training and education for specialty medical response programs (e.g., Hazmat, Wilderness/Austere, USAR/Heavy Rescue, Wildland, etc.).

Responsibilities
  • The Physician Medical Director shall act as an advisor for the delivery of emergency medical services including advanced life support and basic life support.
  • The physician shall regularly review these programs and recommend changes or improvements.
  • The Physician Medical Director shall actively participate in the development and review of medical protocols, programs and directives and make appropriate recommendations regarding changes and implementations to the EMS Division Chief and Fire Chief.
  • The Physician Medical Director shall have access to field involvement with paramedics, AEMTs and EMTs and shall provide evaluation and feedback to the fire chief in the following areas:
  • Case critique based upon ride along, QA/CQI program and chart review
